In most towns, you know it’s spring when the flowers bloom. In Peachtree City, we know it’s graduation season when the banners go up.
If you’ve spent any time cruising the 100+ miles of golf cart paths lately, you’ve likely seen them: large, vibrant banners standing tall at the entrances of our subdivisions. They aren’t advertising homes for sale or neighborhood meetings—they are a roll call of our community’s hard work, listing every high school senior residing within those streets.
The tradition of the Senior Entrance Banner is our way of saying, "We saw you grow up, and we're proud of you."
A Public Shout-Out: Whether they are heading to UGA, Georgia Tech, or off on a gap year adventure, every student gets their moment in the spotlight.
Neighborhood Pride: It’s a friendly competition of sorts—seeing the long lists of names at the entrances of neighborhoods like North Cove, Smokerise, or The Heritage is a testament to the thriving families that call PTC home.
The Ultimate Photo Op: Don’t be surprised if you see a golf cart pulled over and a graduate in a cap and gown posing next to their name. It’s the quintessential Peachtree City "Senior Photo."
While our students attend various private and charter schools, the majority of the names you’ll see represent the two pillars of our local education:
McIntosh High School (The Chiefs): Bringing that green and black pride to the northern end of the city.
Starr’s Mill High School (The Panthers): Repping the blue and gold down south.
Regardless of the school colors, the sentiment remains the same: Excellence is a community effort.
These banners represent late-night study sessions and thousands of miles traveled by golf cart to get to a friend's house. They represent a finish line.
As you drive (or zip) past your neighborhood entrance this May, take a moment to read the names. You might recognize the kid who mowed your lawn, or the one you remember seeing at the bus stop a decade ago.
To the Class of 2026: The bubble is proud of you. Now, go make your mark on the world—just remember to bring your path map if you ever get lost.
Pro-Tip for Parents: Most HOAs coordinate these banners in early March. If you’re new to the area, be sure to check your neighborhood Facebook group or reach out to your HOA board early to ensure your senior’s name is included in this year's "Wall of Fame!"
